Decision-maker guide
What a job title can actually tell you — and what it can't.
Every person Relationship Intelligence discovers gets a Decision-Maker Likelihood band, computed the same deterministic way every time — from the title alone, nothing more, nothing invented.
Four bands, from one signal
High — Founder, Owner, CEO, Director, VP, Head of, Chief, Partner
Titles that plausibly carry budget authority or the final call. Still a likelihood, not a certainty — an "Operations Director" at a 400-person company may sit several approvals away from a purchase a 4-person company's "Director" could sign off alone.
Medium — Manager, Lead, Senior
Often an influencer who shapes the decision and can champion it internally, even without final sign-off.
Low — Coordinator, Executive, Officer, Specialist, Associate, Analyst
Individual-contributor titles — genuinely useful for research and warm introductions, unlikely to hold the budget themselves.
Unknown — No title found, or one that matches no recognised pattern
The honest default when there is not enough evidence — never guessed toward a more impressive-sounding answer.
Two different questions, kept separate
Decision-Maker Likelihood asks "could this person plausibly say yes?" Relationship Relevance asks a different question: "does this person's own department line up with where Buyer Intelligence's Opportunity Map says the opportunity actually is?" A Marketing Manager at a company whose strongest opportunity is Technology scores High on the first and only Medium on the second — both true at once, and worth knowing separately rather than averaged into one misleading number.
Never a guessed name
Every person and every title behind these scores was found on the company's own public team page, or attached to a public contact email — see Relationship Intelligence for how discovery itself works. A company with no public team listing simply has no people here yet, honestly, rather than a fabricated one.
